Derik,

It's nice to see a mention of Frederic Coche. I've been interested in that guy for what must be a decade, now, ever since I first saw his work in "Comix 2000." I found that review of "The Hero's Life and Death Triumphant" on your site. Makes me wish I pulled the trigger on ordering that thing years ago. Maybe I will.

Yeah, I guess it does sound kind of cutesy. I found a number references to the term, like a single post on a blog, but only a few dedicated websites. It seems most of them lean more towards the "visual poetry" side of things anyway, which seems more abstract than literary. Still, it sounds clearer to me,in terms of defining a genre combining poetry and comics in an interrelated way, as opposed to just illustrated poems.

I watched an interview where he explains he did that after reading Concrete, he wanted to top Chadwick.

Here's the interview (in french), the part about the 300 panels page starts at 2:18

I don't recall ever hearing "poemics" before, and I'm not sure "heavily used" would describe the term as far as I can tell from some research. Seems to be one group blog that isn't updated much and a few scattered related projects.

The term itself feels a little too cutesy to me.

Actually I don't really discuss any contemporary photo webcomics (I think I mention A Softer World). Any I've looked at I've found to be pretty silly, and not much of an advance over the old romance photocomics that started the genre.

I love photocomics! Does your article cover some of the recent photowebcomics, too? There is a growing number of photowebcomics with high production values. Being the creator of one myself (Union of Heroes) I have started a link collection on scoop.it: http://www.scoop.it/t/photowebcomics to keep track of them.
Feel free to take a closer look and maybe add some more! Heroic regards from Germany! Arne
