Back to the regular schedule for the new year! If anyone out there is reading this, I’d really appreciate comments on the art/style/etc that I’ll be trying out for this book. Starting out with hand lettering, an area I am not very skilled at, but hope to improve with time and practice. More on Wednesday. I am also toying with the idea of writing more about what I’m doing as commentary on the strips. We’ll see.
Man, hand lettering is a BITCH! But well worth the effort in terms of aesthetics (in my opinion) kudos to you for going that route.
This is an example here, right? It’s definitely readable, if a little cramped in spots. You’ve got a kind of up and down stagger to your line that’s noticeable but not at all unpleasant. Something reminds me of Matt Groening’s hand. I don’t know if that’s a comparison you’d seek…
I’ll be glad to see your comics work up and going again. Looking forward to book four.
That is hand lettering, though I did it over a typed out font. That helps with spacing, which is such a pain even in the computer (where I can move stuff around). It’s probably a little too small here.
I really should start paying more attention to other people’s lettering, so I know what comparisons I seek.
Thanks for the comments.
