I know I'm late replying to this, but I just wanted to let you know that your review had an effect. I had planned to giving the Brunetti anthology as a Christmas present, based on a quick scan of it. On the day I was going to place my order, I happened upon your review. Your review made me take a second, longer look at the book, and I decided that you were right about it not being a good gift for somebody who wasn't familiar with alt comics. I ended up giving Fantagraphics' Passionella and Other Stories, which I think was a much better choice.

My thoughts on Brunetti's anthology were very similar. Lots of poop-poop-pee-pee-boobies humor. If he's trying to convince people who think comics are too pedestrian and juvenille that they are works of art, he's not helping his own cause.
