Trondheim’s new BD book
The Comics Reporter links over to Delcourt’s page on Trondheim’s new book on bande dessinee in conjunction with Sergio Garcia Bande dessinée, apprendre et comprendre, forthcoming later in the month.
The book is partially described: “…les deux larrons partent pour une promenade au fil des pages pour évoquer la fonction narrative des cases, des bulles, du découpage, et décortiquer les arcanes créatives du 9e Art…” which roughly translated as: “…the two thieves [there's a colloquialism I'm missing here I think] take a walk through the pages to evoke the narrative function of panels, balloons, breakdowns, and dissect the creative mysteries of the ninth art [that is, comics]…”
Sounds great to me. There are a few sample pages on that link above, but they are a little too small for me to really make out the text. The art is not by Trondheim, as he always draws himself as a hook beaked bird. I’ll definitely be reading this and reporting back.
