Shaw Sim Hart McCay
A few links:
Dash Shaw - New book: - Tom Spurgeon links over to Dash Shaw’s page for his forthcoming book. 720 pages of Shaw’s work! I’m excited. Last year’s The Mother’s Mouth was excellent. Shaw in an inventive cartoonist.
Indie Spinner Rack Issue #83: Dave Sim - Long talk between Dave Sim and members of the Cerebus Yahoo group. A lot of interesting talk from Sim about comics (history, practice, etc) and none about religion or politics. Worth listening to. He’s doing something in the photorealistic style now that I look forward to seeing.
Tom Hart’s Hutch Blog - Matt Madden is playing Lars to Tom Hart’s Leth as they recreate The Five Obstructions for a week of Hutch Owen strips. I mentioned this last week, but it’s still going on and there’s interesting reading in the various posts and comments.
Rarebit Fiend book - A large, expensive reprint volume of Winsor McCay’s Dreams of the Rarebit Fiend, possible on a par with the Little Nemo volume done by Sunday Press last year. This is one I might have to get. Not only is it a large book with hundreds of strips, a couple essays, and lots of other images, but it includes a CD with hi-res scans of all the Rarebit Fiend strips, a catalog raisonne, and one of McCay’s animated films. Wow.
