PubSub Community List: Comics
Announcing the newly launched PubSub Community List for Comics blogs and sites.
I edited this list of blogs and site about comics. The fine folks at PubSub (Stephen Cohen, being the one I’ve worked with) have set up these great community lists which track pre-selected sites in certain subject areas. Whatever for, you might ask?
For one, similar to the “Comics Weblog Thingy” you can see when sites have updated (it’s on the right about halfway down), but even better you can subscribe to the RSS feed of updates.
Not only that, but you can set-up ongoing searches for terms within the group of sites. For instance, if I wanted to know whenever someone posted about “Kevin Huizenga” on one of the sites, I could set up a search on his name, and then either 1) visit the site periodically to see updates or 2) subscribe to an RSS feed for that specific search, which would deliver new results right to my RSS reader (you do need to create an account for this feature, but it is free, easy, and spam free).
The community list also tracks incoming/outgoing links as a way to measure popularity and influence of particular sites.
I spent a lot of time looking at comics blogs and sites (going through linkrolls, etc), but I’m sure I missed some sites. Let me know if you notice any omissions, though there is the caveat that the site must have an RSS feed (that’s how the whole thing works), which is why some of the big news sites are absent (they need to get with the program).
