October 2006 Orders
A few exciting things in this month’s pre-orders for comics shipping in December/January:
Flash Gordon Vol. 6 by Alex Raymond (Checker): My wish granted! Checker is finally going to finish up Raymond’s run on the Flash Gordon newspaper strip. The art in these is just amazing. A seventh volume is forthcoming too (which I think would reach the end of Raymond’s run). See my old review of the first couple volumes.
Krazy & Ignatz 1939-1940: Brick Stuffed with Moombins by George Herriman (Fantagraphics): More color Krazy Kat strips! My review of a previous volume.
Town of Evening Calm, Country of Cherry Blossoms by Fumiyo Kouno (Last Gasp): A manga about an “average woman” in 1955 Japan. Sounds like my kind of alt-manga.
Glacial Period by Nicolas De Crecy (NBM): Another contemporary bande dessinee from NBM, this one won some awards. From a series co-sponsored by the Louvre.
Atlas 3 by Dylan Horrocks (D&Q): Issue 3! So soon? That’s a good sign.
A new Love and Rockets.
Cold Heat 1 by BJ and Frank Santoro (Picturebox): I have this, but it is being solicited through Diamond now, so I’ll plug it again. Read my review.
