Jealousy?

Is it just jealousy when I get annoyed by sub-par comics made by people who have seemingly never made comics before getting high profiles? It’s like comics are trendy enough that people think they can just throw some panels and word balloons together. And then publishers actually publish the crap.

(And yes, a particular comic set me off this morning, but I don’t want to give it the publicity of actually linking to it.)

hey, I’ve been lurkin’ for a while, reading your comic & theories! re. the proliferation of many practitioners (some possibly mediocre) of a suddenly ‘trendy’ art form, I recommend this article as a partial antidote to your jealousy/indignation:

Jenifer: Righteous indignation. That sounds so much more positive.

Jean: Hi! I always love it when another reader reveals herself. Not sure that article was an antidote, but it was at least a positive lift. I think my indignation is more with the publishers/editors than the creators themselves. Perhaps a case of people in these positions of power who have no idea about comics at all… maybe I should start pushing my comics to literary journals or something.
