Thanks for this post! I’ve been a fan of Gotto’s style for years, but have felt very much alone, sharing my admiration with only a few selected fans and collectors out there. I have to say, though, that the parts of the Ozark Ike run I’ve read have been more interesting than Cotton Woods; similarly fantastic artwork but with even more heart.

This is great - I’ve been curious about Cotton Woods ever since I did that Sturm interview you mentioned, and somehow I missed the existence of this collection, so now I’ll have to hunt it down. And I really like your discussion of this strip & Golem. Looking forward to reading more of this blog.
