Funny, that’s the thing I like the least about it.
Overall, I should add, this seems perfectly competent but I don’t quite get what you’re so ecstatic over, Derik. Would it help if I had read the thing from the beginning–is it some kind of unexpected revelation about one of the characters or something? Otherwise I don’t quite see what it could be…
The colors is some of it. Also the way Shaw visualizes altered states, which you see more in previous installments.
In this particular section: a) the change of colors to the flashback sequence b) the complete shift in style for those last couple strips c) simple things like the panel transition from panel 14-15 (I like the way his head looks like it is just leaning forward from one panel to the next, but we clearly have a shift in space also).
