you&#039;re totally right.  As far as I can tell, that strip (together with the others on the same page) was the first abstract comic I ever saw, at some point in the late &#039;80&#039;s, when I bought the catalogue for the Whitney Steinberg exhibition.  I  actually posted, a couple of years ago, that very strip as an example in a thread on abstract comics on the TCJ Boards.  To my eyes, the entire page from &quot;The Labyrinth&quot; where it appears seems to be some kind of impressionistic representation of an actual newspaper comics page--as if, stepping back from the paper far enough, you no longer can distinguish characters, words or plots, just the formal, anarchic energy in each strip.]]></description>
