Mark Tansey is one of my favorite artists. He's all about paint, history and words (3 things I like) but it is in the wordless place I like his paintings the best. I find myself looking at his paintings and thinking, labeling, identifying, thinking and suddenly I arrive at a place beyond the words, a place where the words have run out and I'm left in this wondrous sort of open space that might mean anything.
