An 8 page abstract comic I created by drawing over a Jesse Marsh Tarzan story, “Tarzan and the Giant Eland” (Tarzan #16, July/August 1950). Drawn as a possible submission for Abstract Comics: An Anthology (Fantagraphics, 2009) (a different comic ended up in that volume).

s’good that, i enjoyed it. look forward to the anthology.
Thanks, Oliver!
I too am looking forward to the anthology. It should be a unique and fascinating volume.
This is an area of comics which should be explored more. Good work.
I like this a lot. It looks beautiful and mysterious on the surface, but the formal aspects are interesting, too. This anthology should be really good.
As I recall, you have something in the anthology too, Jason, yes? Oddly enough, I think the piece Andrei accepted is much closer to your work than the comic here.
I’m interested to see how people react to all of it. My piece is very minimal/conceptual – much different than what I usually do.
and not ratty, really – much cooler. Because now when I look at what I wrote in my previous post, it seems ridiculous – a lot of what I’ve done has been m/c. owategusiam…
Cool. The text is quite oppressive.
I was searching for info about the book and this entry came up. Looking forward to the volume. Have a piece based on the linked design in there, as well.
That’s a nice piece, Urban A.
